Fig. 01 — Halbrook desk lamp
A brass task lamp whose joints hold their angle — no knobs to retighten.
Solid-brass swing arm, two friction joints and a tilting shade on a weighted base. It folds and reaches across the desk, holds wherever you leave it, and points the light at the work instead of your eyes.
Friction joints hold their angle — no knobs to retighten, ever
Solid brass, not plated — it keeps its weight and its shine
The swing arm folds flat and reaches across the whole desk

Fig. 02 — Why brass, why a swing arm
A desk lamp built like an instrument, not a gadget.
Most task lamps are a compromise — plastic arms that sag, a clamp that bites the desk, a sealed bulb you can't change. This is the opposite of that. The arm is solid brass with two articulating joints, so it folds and extends to reach exactly where you read, draw, or work.
The joints hold by friction, so they stay where you leave them without knobs to retighten. The shade tilts on its own to keep glare out of your eyes, and the weighted base means it simply stands on the desk — nothing to install, nothing to undo when you move.

Weighted base stays put — no clamp, no drilling, no landlord
Standard E26 screw-fit, up to 60W — fit whatever bulb you like

Fig. 03 — The joint that stays put
Set the angle once. It keeps it.
Two friction joints run the length of the arm. They take the position you give them and hold it — no wing-nuts to chase, no spring that slowly gives up its tension. Lift it, swing it across the desk, fold it back against the wall; it moves with a steady, weighted resistance and then stays exactly there.

Fig. 04 — On the desk, after dark
Light on the work, not in your eyes.
The shade tilts to aim a pool of light down onto the page or the keyboard, and the arm puts it close enough to matter. It takes a standard E26 screw-fit bulb up to 60W equivalent — so you choose the warmth and brightness, not the lamp — and an inline cord switch sits within reach on the cable.
Left unlacquered, the brass starts bright and slowly deepens into a warmer patina with handling. It reads as an object you keep, not a fixture you replace.

Fig. 06 — Against the usual clip lamp
Why pay more than a basic clip lamp.
A cheaper lamp does light the desk. The difference is what holds up after a year of being moved every day — the metal, the joints, and the base.

Damaged, faulty, or never arrived — 30-day cover, full refund or replacement. Change-of-mind isn’t offered (overseas warehouse).
Dispatch in 1–3 business days · tracked delivery, typically 7–20 days. Questions go through the chat button in the corner — orders, tracking, and returns.
How long does shipping take?
It ships from our overseas warehouse and most orders arrive in 7 to 20 days, with free shipping. A tracking number is emailed when it ships.
What if it arrives damaged?
Send a photo through the chat button in the corner and we approve a full refund or a free replacement, with nothing to send back.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Because orders ship from an overseas warehouse we can't take change-of-mind returns, so the item is yours to keep. We'd rather be upfront about that.
Who is behind the store?
It's operated from Australia, in conjunction with global suppliers. Questions are handled by the chat button in the corner on any page.

Halbrook is operated from Australia, in conjunction with global suppliers. We keep the range narrow on purpose — a few well-made objects we'd want on our own desks, sold at the price the warehouse and free tracked shipping allow.
We'd rather be plain about the trade: it ships from an overseas warehouse, which takes a little longer and keeps the price where it is. Everything else — the brass, the joints, the cover — is exactly as described above.
